Brilliant Mind: Riccardo Tisci

Riccardo Tisci, the head designer for the French fashion house Givenchy, will forever be one of the most brilliant designers of our time. At just 37 years old, he’s taken his dark and often gothic perspective and completely revitalized Givenchy’s image. Perhaps I love him because of his unabashed ability to take a risk and pull it off in every garment, but I also love him for his every present inspiration that he pulls through every piece. He is always telling a complete story, and you’re never left wondering what he was trying to get you to understand.

You’ll understand what I mean when I show you his menswear collection for Fall 2012 that he showed in Paris a couple of weeks ago. The collection was inspired by Tisci’s two childhood obsessions: the American Flag and the mythological creature the Minotaur. You’ll see both strongly expressed through each and every garment- from the stars and stripes of old glory to the golden nose bull ring that each model sported.  Honestly, the only way to appropriately say what happened when I watched the show was that my mind was completely blown. Here, take a look:
